Doubles Prep!

So, the main thing i started this blog for was to help me prep for a tournament. Well...... the doubles are coming round again. This year its Guard/Space wolves. So without further ado.... The list. Logan 4 wolf guard with 1x(T-Hammer/S-Shield), 1x(dual lightning claws), 1 drop pod. 5 thunderwolf cavalry. I've opted for a more muted colour scheme. Not the garish light blue, more like the front of the codex. Grey with a hint of blue. I give to you, exhibit A. Hopefully have the thunderwolves finished by saturday.

Back, Back in the 6th ed groove

Well, i would be if Royal Mail could deliver on time. But meh. So havent read through the rules, havent re-tweak my lists based on changes, havent got any painting plans. I havent picked up a brush in anger for about 4-5 months. Last night i get a hankering to paint, but what do i paint?? I didnt want to start any work on the flesh tearers, guard or orks as i didnt know what im doing with them yet. So.... i present for internet ridicule and laughter, my necromunda enforcers, or at least WIP of them. Hope to have the whole squad base colours done tonight, then i'll move onto highlighting and tweaking. I might also have my gamer pack tomorrow. YAY!! Also, the blog is back.... and lets see if i can "keep it up". -KIT (HHL)

Apoc battle of doom!!

So look at this a mini battle report....

This saturday past i had a proper fun apocalypse game! 5000pts of Eldar including a Revanant and a Cobra versus 3000 Spacewolves with a warhound and my 2000pt Flesh tearers.

The forces of the imperium decided to keep everything in reserve. With that many destroyer weapons on the table we were just going to get ripped apart in the first turn of shooting. So the Eldar deployed, moved, including the revanant deep in our zone. The wolves moved in first scoring some solid hits on a few of the super heavies, the warhound came lumbering on and did what it does best, attracted fire. The wolves sadly took a lot of punishment from the fully deployed Eldar.
When the Blood angels finally arrived it wasnt looking good for team imperium. Then after a little friendly fire that killed the wolf lord we also lost the Titan.
But, the blood champion of the chapter proved his worth. Firstly, followed by the honour guard he charged unit of warp spiders. Flush with his success he set his sites on the titan. Spinning the thunder hammer in his grip he ran at it, the honour guard were confused but followed anyway. Picture legolas taking down that elephant thing, thats what happened. The champion leapt on the lowered pulsar and ran up towards the cockpit. After a gentle rapping on the canopy door to get the drivers attention he swung for all his might knocking the cockpit clean off the shoulders. After an epic explosion, the champion went running off to find the next target.
The game continued with the imperium, to be honest, struggling to keep its head above the water by limiting the firepower the Eldar could bring to bear. The wolves laying down their lives so the flesh tearers could live (operation get behind the puppies). But their sacrifice payed off as after 9 hours of an awesome game the imperium held 2 objectives.

All in all an awesome game, next time, more pictures and more detail i think. Also, Im going to take a real camera and not my phone. I've got a £600 camera i should bloody use it. BUT one thing, in EVERY game from now on the 'titan-killer' blood champion is being fielded. Below are the "decent" pics.

ZOMG a post!!

Yeah! be shockered a post!

So, the doubles has past. 1 win, 3 losses and a draw. BUT thats not the best bit. ALL of the games were bat shit crazy good fun!! I met some truly awesome people and have kept in touch with some to boot. A total winner of a tournament. I didnt take that many pictures as i completely forgot to. The other cool thing about the weekend we actually played against THE Will Hayes, using some of the forgeworld stuff he'd actually designed. EEEEEEE!!!!!

So plans for the next few months.... build and paint the stupid amounts of forgeworld stuff i bought. Pictures below.

Oh and i promise to do a proper update on monday.

February update! + TOMG update

It has been brought to my attention that i hadnt updated my blog, so for those that lurk Im posting :P *points accusatory finger* you know who you are!

Sadly, not as much painting done as i'd like purely as i've either been concentrating on the doubles army, to tired when i get home from work, or i get absorbed in the funkyness that is Star Wars: The old republic.

But below is where the Doubles force and Tale of Many gamers force is right now. Since i didnt have a lot of time in Jan/Feb I thought the TOMG force will be Blood Angels.

ToMG and 40k doubles

Well, where do things stand 2 weeks into the year. I think i may have finally come to a conclusion as to what to paint for the Tale of many gamers. Given the positive feed back on the sisters of battle idea, given the fact i really want to paint my titan, also given the fact i have a bucket load of gaurd/sisters ready to paint I have chosen.......

More Orks!! O_o

Granted I suffered a stunning 20 straight losses with them, but they were a) fun to lose with and b) fun to paint. Now to be honest, isnt that what you need in this hobby. An army that you infact enjoy even loosing with? So with that in mind im going to tweak my standard list i was playing with, add some more fast units(stormboyz) expand others(lootas and nob bikerz).

So here is my painting schedule for now. At home: work on the tournament army, mostly just tanks now. On the move: Orks, stormboyz specifically.

After March and ToMG is finished i think i'll dedicate my time to painting the titan and the stompa, but i do have an overwhleming fear of large models.

Happy New Year, Polls, updates and painting plans.

Wow, august was the last post. Looking back on the last 3 months(december doesnt count) there wasnt much to report sadly. The odd thing got finished. But its a new year and im still all fresh with the promise of a new year.

I've decided to move away from the "i have to paint" idea. Also with my new years resolutions they are 'long term' plans that will actually take a year to complete. But 2012 will be the year where i take a large chunk out of the lead mountain growing. I'll break these down into quarters i think. I've also reset the battle counters, these arent to record a win/loss ratio but how many games i play during the year.

So Quarter 1. I have a doubles tournament in february. My Flesh Tearers are teaming up with a friend who plays Eldar. Or as i like to call it Operation: Hide behind the Eldar. I cant say were going with a list to make friends with. 2 wraithlords, avatar, wraithguard, Gabriel, Assault squad in pimp land raider, baal pred, vindicator. Dont get me wrong, i dont think its a top table list, and dont really want it to be. Id much prefer to stay mid range and have some proper fun games with fun people. Does that make sense?
Also in Quarter 1 i have entered into a "Tale of Many Gamers" much like has been run many times in white dwarf. The problem is, this has started but what to paint. My choices i feel are, Flesh Tearers, Guard, Sisters of Battle. Now the guard would not be achievable. There is close to 60 miniatures per 500pt stage. Ok yes i could throw in Yarrick or Ogryns to make it easier. Hmm, food for thought. Sadly, the flesh tearers only really have a few things to paint to be a nice 2000pt force, most of that is tanks and Sanguinary Guard. Below is a test miniature for the sisters. I can rattle them off quite quickly. The other reason to have this "goal" is I have a few business trips planned for Jan/Feb a lot of evenings in hotel rooms. 20 or so miniatures and closed palette are easy in the luggage. I've put a poll up for a decision.

Hope to update this more often than i did last year.
